What does mentoring look like?

Youth mentoring with me isn’t a lecture, a checklist or a quick fix. It’s a conversation—a space where young people get to be real without being judged, rushed or labelled.

Each session is a one-on-one, private space (online or in-person) where we start with where they’re at. That might be a tough week, a moment of anxiety, a fight with a friend, or just a vague feeling that something’s “off.” We talk through it together—gently, honestly, and at their pace.

I use storytelling, carefully worded questions and my patented frameworks to help unpack what’s going on beneath the surface. Some sessions feel light and playful. Others dive deeper. Both help them learn to understand themselves, express their thoughts and feel more confident in their own skin. I may offer some tasks to be completed that are in alignment with their values and goals to walk them towards achieving them.

There’s no agenda other than support. No pressure to perform or be “fixed.”

Just a steady presence, a safe space and someone who shows up fully for them—every single time.

Meet your Mentor

Hi, I’m Kevin—a heart-led youth mentor, teacher, and speaker with over a decade of experience supporting young people through life’s messier moments. From school classrooms to mentoring programs, camps to podcasts, I’ve spent the past 13 years walking alongside teens and young adults as they navigate confidence, identity, connection, and self-worth.

I’ve mentored first-year uni students, supported refugee teenagers, coordinated teen camps and spoken on podcasts and youth-focused stages. I’m a qualified teacher and hold a postgraduate in gifted education, trained in youth mental health first aid, NLP and teen coaching practices.

But beyond the qualifications, I’ve been that kid—the one who felt lost, unsure, and unseen. I was alone, bullied growing up and spent my high school years questioning who I was, mostly in silence. That changed when I met a mentor—someone who didn’t have to care, but did. She gave me space, time, and a book that would shape the rest of my life: Tuesdays with Morrie. That’s when I realised the power of showing up for someone—and I’ve been doing that ever since.

I walk into each mentoring session with a warm, story-driven, and real approach. No fluff. Just honest conversation, active listening and the kind of presence that makes room for growth. People often say I have a calming energy. That I’m genuine. I just show up as myself. Turns out, that’s what young people often need most. I don’t mentor to be the hero—I do it to help youth trust themselves again. That trust starts with me, sure. But where it leads? That’s where the magic is.

Youth

Feel overwhelmed? Stuck? Or unsure of who your are? Some are quiet, some overthink, and some hide it well—but everyone’s looking for a space where they don’t have to pretend. Whether you’re navigating confidence, relationships, identity, or just trying to feel like yourself again, I give you space to be open, reflect and grow - being guided by someone who gets it and is on your side.

You’ve tried to support them, but the conversations hit walls or fall flat. That’s where I come in. I offer a calm, non-judgmental space where you can develop the skills to support your youth as they transition into someone with confidence and healthy relationships and habits.

Testimonials.

  • Kevin is an extremely empathetic person. Every time I see him, he’s putting in effort to make sure people feel safe and welcome. I organised a big multi day team building games competition and Kevin consistently demonstrated leadership skills that I really wish I had as a role model when I was a youth.

  • Kevin’s ability to connect authentically with others speaks to his openness, warmth, and appreciation for diverse experiences and perspectives. He believes in leading by example, and his actions consistently reflect his values. Whether it’s stepping up in times of need, supporting others, or pursuing his own goals with discipline and drive, he always takes initiative and follows through. His motivation is more than just talk—he takes deliberate steps to make a positive impact in both personal and professional contexts.

    Wilson

  • It’s hard to find people who have the rare gift for connecting with young hearts that Kevin does—he can uplift, inspire and help people find the courage to follow their dreams and shape their own futures like he has for me. I don't have many people that I feel that I can trust and ask for help. I always have felt good and safe around him. Thank you Kevin for everything.

 FAQs.

  • Therapy often focuses on mental health diagnoses, past trauma and when that’s cleared, preventing relapses.

Mentoring is more about support, guidance, and growth through conversation and tasks, whereas coaching is about removing blocks that stop you from achieving your goals or tasks and helping you find the answers you need. These are future-focused and practical.

  • Anything your youth wants to explore: confidence, anxiety, self-worth, identity, school stress, friendships, social media, communication, motivation, life transitions. I take into consideration what the parent(s) want as well.

  • Totally understandable. I never push for vulnerability. I just show up as a safe, grounded presence. When the tone is set and expectations are made, people tend to open up. People find it difficult to open up because that isn’t the norm within those relationships. For some, all this takes is permission, for others, it takes time.

  • That’s okay! The free call helps us all feel if this is right. Not everyone will resonate with me and that’s perfectly okay. If that’s the case, I’ll recommend other trusted options.

  • Confidentiality is key. I only break it if there's a safety risk. Youth need space to be honest and to know that they have control over what information goes where.

  • No problem! I’ve mentored young adults as well. Lets have a chat and see how we can help you and your child.

  • Fees are discussed on the free call. I aim to keep this accessible and will offer a package I feel that might best suit your situation.

  • Around 60 minutes.

  • Both. I offer sessions online and in-person (Sydney-based).

  • What if I don’t know what to talk about?
You don’t have to. We start with where you’re at. I lead the conversations until you feel comfortable leading it.

Do I have to be struggling to come to mentoring?
Not at all. You might just want someone who listens without judgment or maybe you have something you want to improve on. You just need an open mind.

    Will it be awkward?
Maybe at first—but it never lasts long when you’re with someone who gets it. Remember that this is new to you. Anything new is going to feel weird.

Keep up to date.
